National Arbor Day is April 25th, 2025. This year marks the 151st anniversary of Arbor Day, which was first celebrated in 1872!
Arbor Day is a day to plant and rejoice in the beauty of trees. The day originated when nature lovers J. Sterling Morton and his wife Caroline Joy promoted the planting of trees in the treeless plains of Nebraska. The trees provided much needed windbreaks, shade, and wood for fuel and building.
This holiday is celebrated on the last Friday in April, the planting of trees takes place at different times in different states in order to take advantage of optimal tree planting conditions.Celebrate Arbor Day: April 25th! The Tree Planter's Holiday!
