Grilling season is upon us! Pack up all of your goodies in an ice chest and head on over to our new grilling area on the East side of building 21!



Here are a few essential tips for preparing your grill for the perfect BBQ:

Patience is Key When Using Charcoal

When using charcoal briquettes light the coals about 30 minutes before cooking. If you’re using lighter fluid, make sure the fire is completely out before slapping the meat on the grill, or else you’ll have the nasty fuel taste in your meat. At this time, the charcoal should be mostly an ash-gray color with a little bit of glowing red underneath.


Create Heat Zones

On a kettle grill, arrange the coals in its center or off to one side. Sear food where heat is highest, then move it to the outer edges of the grill to perfectly cook without burning.

Add Smoke

Whether you grill over gas or charcoal, add water soaked hardwood pellets, briquettes, chunks, or chips to impart a smoky flavor to foods. Different wood varieties add subtle nuances; try applewood for sweetness, mesquite for tang, or hickory for a bacon-like taste.



Grilling Policy: By order of The Fire Marshall, grills and propane tanks are strictly prohibited from use or storage on all patios and balconies. You must have your grill at least ten-feet away from the building. This will be strictly enforced. Please enjoy the grills provided by San Tropez. We ask that each resident properly dispose of all trash and leave the grill clean for the next resident’s use.
