HURRICANE SEASON
Be Prepared

Hurricane Season is here and we are very concerned about keeping our residents safe.
Therefore, we need everyone to be aware of the precautions to take during a hurricane
warning period. In the event of an approaching hurricane the National Hurricane Center will announce a hurricane warning via news media. At that time you should follow these
guidelines:

PREPARE FOR STORM

  • All plants, furniture and other items on your patio or balcony should be moved indoors. This is MANDATORY. Any items left out will be disposed of by maintenance.

  • If you have a boat on the property, it must be removed from the property.

  • Clean and fill bathtub with water.

  • Keep a supply of first aid materials on hand for emergencies.

  • Purchase in advance bottled water, ice and non-perishable items, such as canned food, packaged food, paper and personal products, pet food and supplies.

  • Keep three pairs of heavy leather gloves in your vehicle or apartment for use in case the need arises to move broken glass or other sharp objects.

  • Fill your vehicles’ gas tanks before the storm arrives.

  • Obtain necessary prescriptions and medications and keep with you in case of evacuation.

  • If power is lost Automatic Teller Machines will not be working. You will want to make arrangements for cash needs.

  • If power is off for a long period of time consider disposing of perishable foods in the refrigerator that start to thaw out after an extended power outage.

  • Avoid downed power lines and report them to the power company as soon as possible.

DURING STORM

  • Remain calm and keep listening to local news for weather conditions, evacuation routes and nearest shelter locations.

  • Take refuge in a small interior room during the storm.

  • Keep all windows and doors closed throughout the storm. Do not crack a window or door during the storm. Draw your verticals and drapes over the windows to protect from possible shattering glass. DO NOT tape your windows.

  • DO NOT light candles for lighting as they can cause a fire. Keep a supply of chemical light sticks and battery operated lanterns and hand held lights on hand for use during times when the power fails.

  • Keep flashlights and battery operated radio or TV handy along with plenty of extra batteries.

IN CASE OF EVACUATION

  • DO NOT leave pets unattended at the property. There are shelters and kennels that will board your pet in case of evacuation.

  • Take your vehicle and personal property insurance policies with you. Remember that our insurance covers ONLY the building structure, and not your contents or personal belongings.

We appreciate your cooperation. Your safety is our primary concern. Our team will be available on an emergency phone number (954) 528-0366 should you need assistance.
