There's nothing like the smell of a charcoal grill being fired up! Here are a few essential tips for preparing your grill for the perfect BBQ.
Patience is Key When Using Charcoal
When using charcoal briquettes light the coals about 30 minutes before cooking. If you’re using lighter fluid, make sure the fire is completely out before slapping the meat on the grill, or else you’ll have the nasty fuel taste in your meat. At this time, the charcoal should be mostly an ash-gray color with a little bit of glowing red underneath.
Create Heat Zones
On a kettle grill, arrange the coals in its center or off to one side. Sear food where heat is highest, then move it to the outer edges of the grill to perfectly cook without burning.
Add Smoke
When your grilling over charcoal, just add water soaked hardwood pellets, briquettes, chunks, or chips to impart a smoky flavor to foods. Different wood varieties add subtle nuances; try applewood for sweetness, mesquite for tang, or hickory for a bacon-like taste.

By order of the Fire Marshal, grills and propane tanks are strictly prohibited from use or storage on all patios and balconies. This policy is for everyone’s safety and will be strictly enforced.
But don’t worry—you can still fire up the flavor! Community grills are available in every courtyard and by the pool area for all residents to enjoy.
To keep our shared spaces clean and safe, please follow these guidelines:
Clean the grill after each use so it’s ready for the next neighbor.
All trash must be disposed of in the trash can.
No hot ashes on the floor. Please place them in the grey metal ash bucket provided near the grill area—never in regular trash cans or on the ground.
Make sure to clean up after you are done using the grill.
