The holiday season is officially upon us, and many residents are traveling to see their families. If you’re one of them, please take a moment to review these 8 tips to ensure your home remains safe and sound while you’re away:
Notify the office immediately so we can maintain your apartment during freeze warnings.
Have the post office put a hold on your mail. Visit usps.com for more information.
If you receive a newspaper, contact your subscriber to have its delivery put on hold.
Take out the trash — Nothing will make you more miserable than opening your door to two-week old rotting garbage.
Put timers on your lights and have them go on and off at different times.
Turn off and unplug space heaters if you won’t be using them for long periods.
Make sure your pets receive proper care.
Set your thermostat to Auto, this will prevent any possible damage from freezing. Please leave faucets dripping so pipes do not freeze and keep heat at 65 degrees or higher.
Bonus Tip: Stop by the office to pay your rent early if you’ll be out of town over the New Year’s weekend. It’s a great way to avoid those pesky late fees!
