Kitchen Cleaning Tips That Save Time (And Work)

Tips and tricks to efficiently and sufficiently clean your microwave oven, cooktops and kitchen sinks.

To clean your Microwave Oven, mix together 2 tbsp. of lemon juice or vinegar and 2 cups of water in a 4 cup glass microwave safe bowl. Microwave on HIGH for two to three minutes. Carefully remove the bowl and wipe the microwave with paper towels. Repeat as necessary.

For Electric Stove Burners, wait for the burners to completely cool (we can’t stress this enough!), then remove them from the stove top. Using a cloth and a bit of mild dish soap and water, rinse any residue from the burner coils. Take care not to get any part of the the electrical connection wet, and don’t submerge any part of the burners. If there’s any cooked-on food residue that won’t come off with the soap-and-water mixture, use this method: make a paste from baking soda and water, then apply it to the tough spot. Give it about 20 minutes to sit, then scrub and rinse the burner. Lastly, make sure the burners are completely dry before you try to replace them.

For mineral deposits on your Kitchen Sink Faucet, wrap vinegar-soaked paper towels around faucets for about an hour. This breaks down the mineral scale, and the chrome will be clean and shiny after buffing with a dry towel.
